And that voice...
The Daily Show just showed a clip of one of those retarded pundits from Fox News saying the following, regarding Sarah Palin:

"But of course she DOES have international experience - she's up there in Alaska, which is right next to Russia!"

*headdesk*

Would someone who plans on voting McCain please explain to me how you can feel comfortable voting for a team where the main guy has had cancer multiple times and is 72, and if he died or became incapacitated the person who would take over from him as the Ruler of The Free World™ has two years of experience as governor of Alaska, and prior to that was on a City Council? I mean, come on. Even if you don't care for the democratic party, can you acknowledge that Obama and Biden are far FAR more qualified?

sorry. doesn't work that way.

see my most recent post.

:(

obama could walk on water. america's not ready for a black guy as president. . point blank.

but they will find other ways to say he lost the election... and continue to avoid the discussion of race in america.

whatevers.

I think you're wrong. Regardless of who was nominated for the Democratic party, the Rove Machine would find a way to slam and defame them so as to keep the GOP in power as long as possible.

Yes, I'm sure there are people who won't vote for Obama because he's black. But is it not the least bit uplifting to know of the millions who WILL vote for him? Who don't care that he's black? Can they have some credit, too? Or are we all just irretrievably racist and totally irredeemable? Because in that case, we're all just hopelessly fucked and there's no point in even trying.

It does, in fact, work that way. Regardless of the percentage of republicans that are mindless sheep, there are also those that are intelligent and will find this VP choice for exactly what it is: a pathetic pandering by what is appearing to be a completely incompetent campaign.

And unless you can say you know or have met the more than 300 million people that make up this country, I don't think you can say with any certainty what they ready for. You may not be ready for a 'black guy as president' but the rest of the country just might be...

Continue to avoid the discussion? What's not being discussed? in this election, I've seen race relations in America parsed eight ways to sunday in every English-language publication other than my Rice Krispies box.I didn't buy any cereal in February, so it might have even been on there then.

Calling FNC pundits "retarded" is an insult to everyone with developmental disabilities.

I don't know what McCain was thinking. If you were voting on résumé, McCain beats Obama all hollow, but Obama + Biden spanks the hell out of McCain + Palin. I don't know how much an inexperienced veep hurts McCain, but it won't help.

McCain has not had cancer but ONCE in 1993. He had 2 suspicious nodes recently and had them removed they are not cancerous.
72 is NOT old. I am not sure who I am voting for but the next Obama walks on water believer who says McCain is a cancerous old dude - it just sets me off. It is mis-information.
Now for Sarah Palin. Sarah Palin has held the Governors office which is an EXECUTIVE BRANCH of government. Unlike the Senate which is not. So she in reality has more EXECUTIVE experience then anyone running for President right now.
Obama's VOTING RECORD does not back up the WORDS coming from his mouth. GO LOOK AT IT.
He and McCain actually vote the same. Except for McCain actually shows up to vote more than Obama does. Which says a lot to me about character.
I think Obama is AN arrogant ass and I am a registered Democrat who has always been thrilled about my candidate. This guy makes me want to run for cover. If anything because staying friendly with someone who is with the Weather Underground makes him an ass in my book. You are who ya play with. He plays with terrorist. Then he flip flops. Then he says all this bullshit especially about energy independence WHEN HE HAS VOTED NO OR NO VOTED WHEN CONGRESS HAS TRIED TO DO ANYTHING FOR ENERGY INDEPENDENCE.
That said.
McCain is not my friend. He really irritated me with "friend" this and that. So far his voting record I agree with and and...he is PRO-CHOICE tadah....
Sarah Palin however does not believe in evolution. She is also rumored to be pro-life but that might just be a Republican assumption. She is on the fore front of saving the Polar Bears. She is also on the fore front of DRILL HERE DRILL NOW for oil independence. We will need oil till we can build all our windmills or what not. It's a bandaid but we still need it. So I do not freaking know.
I just do know that the sun does not shine out of Obamas ass and the quicker democrats realize that well it's too late now.
But I would not fight to the death to defend the fucker. Just me. :)

I agree with you about people getting a little paranoid about mccain's health but I believe you're incorrect about his current stance on abortion, I'll try and dig up some links on that. Meantime, can you explain to me why people keep talking about Obama's arrogance. I don't see it. I don't find him anymore arrogant or presumptuous than anyone would be running for the presidency. I think his campaign has made some bad choices in trying to counteract the lack of experience charges by trying to place him in contexts that try to make him appear more presidential (the campaign logo/seal, the oval office. white house press room style set dressing) but he himself has never come actoss that way to me, yet I hear people repeat it frequently.

His abortion stance is very similar to your regular Democrat.
HOWEVER NRAL and Planned Parenthood give him a 0% rating because well..he never gave them any money. So feh.
Also NOW that he has chosen Palin the argument grows greater that he is also as pro-life as she is. Again-another reason I will not vote for them.
As far as Obama being arrogant.
I give you Berlin. Obama supporters say this was a show that he knows foreign policy. The way it was executed was to me EXTREMELY arrogant.
Besides the fact to me it was really the Obama family vacation and in a way to use campaign funds to go to Germany.
THEN while he is in Germany he did not visit our troops in the HOSPITAL. Forget that you are a candidate for a minute and at least say hello. So first he tours Europe like he is already President then he comes back. Here we are at the DNC and the set looks like the inside of parts of the Whitehouse. It was just way too much. There didn't need to be a set. So yeah. That is about the 2. Despite like I said-the words coming out of his mouth do not match his voting record.
THAT THERE is really the main thing.

Here's the article I was thinking about and it references a few others. Not sure if McCain has modified a previous pro-choice opinion to pander to his base, but he's made it clear he would be taking a pro-life stance when selecting supreme court nominees

McCain has not had cancer but ONCE in 1993.

Regarding his past skin issues, the Senator has received skin care at Mayo Clinic in Arizona since August, 2000. Four malignant melanomas were surgically removed in the past. Three of these were "in situ" melanomas, meaning they were limited to the top layers of the skin and were not invasive.

These three early melanomas – on his left shoulder, left arm and left nasal sidewall, were removed in 1993, 2000 and 2002, respectively. A fourth melanoma that was invasive was removed from his left lower temple in 2000.

-- Michael L. Hinni, M.D., Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery, Mayo Clinic
Released by the McCain campaign, May 2008. PDF at http://media.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/politics/documents/mccain_health_records_052308.pdf

72 is NOT old.

Only if you're trying to define the word "old" out of existence.

The average life expectancy for American men is 75.2 (CDC, 2005: http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/nvsr/nvsr56/nvsr56_10.pdf). Men 75 and older are 5% of the male population. 100% of American presidents were younger when they took office than McCain would be.

If 72 isn't old, just when does "old" begin?

So we are discussing skin cancer?
I was discussing his lymphatic cancer.
As far as 72 being old or not old.
I find it interesting that people will say they are going to vote for Obama because they could care less what color his skin is. BUT these same people will discriminate AGE.
I am just saying.
Either way I am not voting for any of these people.

He had four malignant tumors removed from his body. That was "cancer" when I was in school.

Discrimination consists of treating people differently when their relevant traits are the same, or the same when their relative traits are different. It is not discrimination if the trait being considered is relevant to the performance of the job.

Is the likelihood that he will die in office, or be incapacitated, relevant in choosing a president? I believe that it is.

This issue came up in 1992, when Paul Tsongas -- another cancer survivor -- was running for the Democratic nomination. His supporters angrily claimed that his medical history was irrelevant, and raising it amounted to a dirty campaign trick. They refused to release medical details.

Tsongas died January 18, 1997 -- two days before he would have begun his second term. That, for me, settled the question of whether a candidate's medical history is relevant.

4th down incomplete and change of possession.

What, Alan Keyes was busy? David Duke too busy running Jindal's campaign to not pitch in? Why not Dan Quayle - he's got four years of experience at that slot and I would hope someone's given him a dictionare in-between then and now. Brownie, why go back to thoroughbreds?

Honestly, McCain - can this guy make a good decision and stick to it? (No.)

And, to go back to Chris Rock and Arizona (including McCain) voting against the Martin Luther King Holiday - how racist do you have to be not to want a day off of work?

I gotta side with Muse on this...if you don't vote, you deserve what you get. If you vote for McCain, you deserve what you get. If you vote for Obama...well, it's sort of a repetitive cycle isn't it?

Here's where the opinion part starts:
At least if you vote for Obama, you are practically guaranteed change. Right about now, change is good. What's he gonna do? - put me in the poor house? Nope, W did it already. Inflate fuel costs, which is trickling down to every other commodity in the country? Nope, W did it already. Borrow money from who knows where, send tiny little checks to every adult in America AND THEN TAX US FOR IT NEXT YEAR, all the while increasing the national deficit to a number so friggin' high that you can't appreciate it until you write it all out $9,653,920,351,260.41? Nope W did that already too. (Sideline - according to http://www.brillig.com/debt_clock/, the debt divided by the population of approximately 304 million means we each owe only $31,687.73).

All of this is NOT to say that McCain is a bad guy. I personally think he is a pretty good guy with good intentions. He would probably do well as C-in-C but I don't think he relates to the average citizen in America. Was it 7 houses or 9? Seriously, I forgot too. Seriously.

If nothing else happens as a positive action from Obama being elected, it will at least show the world that we can get over ourselves long enough to elect a black man. Which, like it or not America, the world still thinks we won't do. Ok, so he's only half black really, but who cares. I'm a tiny fraction Cherokee, and I'm still waiting on my checks from the casino to arrive.

The scariest thing about the Alaska comment is that I've heard it out of the mouths of more than one political commentator (three so far.)

One I can understand, but it seems to have become a talking-point.

Headdesk, indeed.
